She was born near Eureka, WI, on April 24, 1909, a daughter of Charles and Alice (McGregor) Liddle. She married James Jungwirth, of Poygan, in a private ceremony June 20, 1934. They farmed in the Town of Poygan until 1965. After the death of her husband on February 12, 2003, Dorothy continued to live on the family farm until the time of her death.
Dorothy graduated from Omro High School in 1927 then attended Normal School in order to become a teacher. She taught at Fisk School for one year, at Fremont for five years, and at Stone School for one year. She taught all eight grades in each of those schools.
She acted as "go-fer" for her son Don's auto repair shop by traveling wherever necessary to get auto parts he needed.
Until about age 100, she knit hundreds of pairs of mittens yearly to be given to needy children worldwide at Christmas time. She received a blue ribbon on a knitting project at the Winnebago County Fair.

As a neighbor ,I remember going to warm up at Dorthy's house on some cold winter sleigh ride days when I was growing up. She was always so nice. These are memories I will always remember.
